October 2007

My friend sent me this at work via fax. For some reason, it came out dark and I had to rewrite it on paper. After reading it again, it hit me. I now understood why he muttered, “Rob, this is soooo you.”

After a While

After a while you learn the subtle difference between

holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and

     company doesn’t mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts

     and presents aren’t promises.

And you begin to accept your defeats with you head

up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult

not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build all your roads on today

because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for

     plans.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if

     you get too much.

So plant your own garden and decorate your own

soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you

     flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure

     that you really are strong,

and you really do have worth.

And you learn and you learn

     with every good-bye you learn.

I know it’s been a while. Sue me. Anyway, I’m going to try to synchronize this blog with that of my multiply account. So for those of you-multiply friends/contacts who are currently reading this, this is nothing new. Go visit https://princerob.wordpress.com and see for yourselves.

Dday Wish List a.k.a. Why Rob has gone M.I.A.

Let’s start with a not-so-feasible list of 5:

1.  I want a personal assistant.

I really want somebody I can ask, “So, what’s my agenda for the day?” I mean, all I’m left to do is tell him/her that I’m doing this and that (prioritizing). And all that’s left will be his or her job. In Microeconomics, it’s as simple as the law of utilities. I have been busy with school and work, and an extra hand will be of great help.  Sakura, my Japanese friend, offered to be my PA for a day and I might just take her offer.

2. I want a Beach house.

CPP (Cal Poly Pomona, from now on I’ma call my school CPP so get used to it folks) is one major reason why I have been finding less and less time to write about stuff. I drive to school 5 days a week (on Tuesdays, I drive twice – how crazy is that?) and by Friday, my energy level is almost drained. I just want a place by the beach to spend my weekends at. Los Angeles is really fast paced and I just need to slow down, even for a while.

3. I want 5 sets of round trip plane tickets to PI.

One for me and four for my friends who are coming along. See, I’m not that self-centered at all. Ha! This would help me a lot. Instead of looking for a part-time job during the winter break/holiday season, I can just chill and recuperate. Of course, I would need this by July of next year (for those parties interested). Applications are welcome 24/7 and extra pocket money is a plus.

4. I want two cell numbers

I want answers!! Lol. No hint.

5. 5 extra hours per day

I want more time to sleep. Enough said.

On to my reasonable list:

1.  I need Camie back

Ok, first of all, I’m ok. Anyway, I got into a car accident three weeks ago. Nothing major though. My bumper was kind of dented but that’s about it. So they had to take Camie to fix her. But yeah, I need her badly. Word is, I might get it in a day or two. Yay!

2. Successful Dday lunch

Since I decided to have a black and white affair last year, I opted for a more laid back celebration this year. Hence, lunch at Gauchos Village Brazilian Churrascaria & Carnaval Bar. 19 people already sent their RSPVs. I just wish everything else turns out great and that everyone will have ball on Saturday.

3. Continue to balance work-school-play

Will the hectic schedule, I’m forced to choose which activity I can and cannot commit to. I have been missing on a lot of stuff but so far, I have been able to make compromises. So I just need to continue with what I’ve been doing since it seems to be working.

4. $$Business Venture luck$$

Yup, I’m adding businessman to my title. I’m currently on the process of setting up a business and have been waiting for my associates’ business proposal to materialize. Top secret for now guys. But please do pray for success in this endeavor.

5. And lastly, lotsa love y’all.

At the end of the day, a man needs love from his friends and family. For 22 years, I have been blessed with a lot of wonderful people and that’s what I’m most thankful for.
