Life is full of unforeseen events. Sometimes we bump into people and who knows what those encounters could lead to. It may be a start of a good friendship or something more. I guess it all depends on which course the flow of this so-called life would then pursue. We make decisions on a daily basis. And as much as we try to avoid making the wrong ones, sometimes we are forced to make one and the best thing that we can do is to have conviction with whatever choice we make.

I pity those who cannot stand with whatever decision they chose to pursue. They are too scared to face the consequences of having the certainty to fight for what it is they find themselves in the middle of.

Above all, I believe in the very essence of reason. Cause, motive, basis, rationale, whatever you call it, there is ultimately a reason for everything. Without it, we would cease living a life but instead be in this predestined world: a place where we do not make our own choices, but in turn, choices make who we are.

Of course, you can always argue against my belief and say that there is no absolute truth. And we could argue for days and end up not really reaching into a consensus. After all, all of these are subjective. But what I am trying to point out is that if we assume that we are capable of making our choices (and I know most of us do believe in this), and that this choice is due to a certain rationale, then whatever the end result is, we should be ready for it even though how painful it may be.

My friend told me that his Psychology professor told them that being alive is a curse. We may always be hurting or struggling or wanting (unlimited wants for scarce resources) or whatever it is that may qualify or quantify life as a curse, but I will never see it that way. It is, from the very core, a gift on the first place. What matters is how it is spent and how much living takes place. It’s unfortunate to realize that some of us spend too much time being complacent with going with the flow and not really making a difference.

So go out there, make choices. Stand by them and be confident of the path you choose. Heck, I even dare you to make wrong decisions. You might learn a thing or two. Or not. For me, that is the real beauty of life: not really knowing what’s next. This mystery just keeps me hungry for wanting more life from life.
